sir,

REG OCT 6
am directed to acknowledge the receipt of your letters Nos/42375 of the 11th inst. on the subject of the bogua
shipment of 132 chests of spurious opium from Macao to Mexico,
and of your letter of the same date No 44231 showing that the
de facto Goverment of Mexico profess prohibit the import
of opium.
It is observed that the papers transmitted with the
latter communication have been communicated to the Foreign
Office and it is presumed that the Department has also received
the papers relative to the shipment of spurious opium. It is
for the Foreign Office to consider whether in view of the
information received any action should be taken with reference
to the agreement of 1913 with the Portuguese Government
relative to the importation of opium into Macao; and Fr.
Chamberlain does not propose to take any action in the
matter unless he should be requested to do so by the Foreign
Office.
The Under Secretary of State.
Colonial Office.

I have the honour to be, Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
